Hi, I’m Vamsi Kurama.
I build products and teams. I care a lot about tools that feel calm, clear, and well-designed.
I’m the founder & CEO of Plane, a project management tool built from simple building blocks that teams can assemble into their own way of working. Plane has 40k+ GitHub stars, and it’s used in surprisingly different worlds, from space-tech teams pushing the frontier to the people running everyday city operations.
My background is deeply technical: web and mobile systems, compilers, cloud orchestration, high-performance compute, and machine learning. I’m equally drawn to product design—the small details that make software feel intuitive and trustworthy. I started with Django-era web engineering, later worked on machine perception with deep neural networks, and today I lead Plane while staying close to both craft and systems.
I also owe a meaningful part of my journey to open source. It shaped how I learn, build, and share.
When I’m not building, I’m usually tinkering, writing, or reading.
